In a car crash that took place on Monday, February 17, Tommy Lee Cole, 44, lost his life. The accident happened in Lansing in the early hours of the morning.

According to the details shared by the Lansing police, Cole was driving on the West Miller road at the time. He also had three other passengers in the vehicle. As the vehicle neared Pleasant Grove, Cole seems to have lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the road, then struck a pole and rolled over on its side.

As it rolled over, three of the four occupants were pinned in. These included Cole, the other passenger in the front and the passenger on the driver’s rear side. It was only once help arrived that the pinned passengers were rescued from the vehicle. Lansing Fire Department was among the first to respond to the incident and help the pinned victims climb out of the car.

Of the four passengers in the car, only Cole sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead at the spot. The other three passengers sustained only minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital.

According to the preliminary investigations conducted by the Lansing police, alcohol and overspeeding were the likely factors that caused the crash. However, investigations into the crash are still ongoing. Once the investigations conclude, Lansing police will share a more concrete cause of what happened and how the accident took place. Other victims of the crash who were hospitalized may also share important details once they recover.
