Toddler Charleigh Nicole Nielsen Dies in RV Park Accident

Charleigh Nicole Nielsen

A septic tank accident at the RV Resort Park, Aransas, Texas, ended the life of a toddler, Charleigh Nicole Nielsen, 2, on Wednesday, February 19th. The little girl and her family were visiting her father, who was working nearby.

The deceased’s family and authorities are unsure of what happened. But an investigation by the authorities uncovered that Nielsen was playing near the 15-foot septic tank when she fell in because the utility hole wasn’t closed properly.

Before first responders arrived, the girl’s family and residents of the park tried to get her out with ropes but were unsuccessful. They also tried using a backhoe, but it didn’t work either.

Around 4:30 p.m., the Ingleside Fire and Rescue Team arrived at the park. A member of the team got lowered into the tank to bring out Nielsen, and at that time, she had spent about an hour trapped inside.

By the time the rescuer got to the little girl, she had passed away, and her body was brought back to the surface. The rescue team also had the help of other local response teams like the Aransas Pass Fire Department and the Rockport Volunteer Fire Department.

According to Texas Child Protective Services, three children have died in septic tanks in the area in the past ten years. Also, there have been three drowning incidents involving children in 2020.

The authorities are still looking into the circumstances of Nielsen’s death. At the time of this report, they have not released any updates, but in the meantime, they’ve asked parents and guardians to keep a watchful eye over their children.
