A teenager who was critically injured in a recent car crash and was on the verge of dying from her injuries has now miraculously improved and awakened. Hunter Pelon, 17, of L’Anse was involved in an accident that took place on Monday afternoon. She regained her consciousness this Thursday.
According to the details shared by the Baraga County Sheriff’s Office, the deputies were informed about a possible drunk driver in L’Anse Township. When the deputies arrived at the scene, the vehicle was still running. Pelon was found unconscious inside the vehicle while two other teenage boys were found dead. These have since been identified as Dylan Roberts, 17, of L’Anse and Christopher Turpeinen, 17, of Pelkie.
Pelon was found in critical condition and provided emergency medical treatment. She was then transported to the Baraga County Memorial Hospital. After receiving treatment at the facility, she was later transferred to the Green Bay Hospital.
Pelon’s condition remained critical and it was believed that she may not be able to recover after all. In fact, friends and family were asked to say their farewells to the teen. On Thursday, however, Pelon miraculously regained consciousness and it is expected that she may be able to achieve a full recovery.
The actual cause of the death of two boys and Pelon’s critical condition remains unknown. According to the preliminary investigations by the Sheriff’s Office, asphyxiation may have been a key factor. However, the authorities are still in the process of conducting autopsies and a definite cause is likely to be identified soon.
