Juan P. R. Becerra, 19, was pronounced dead at a hospital after the wreck, which occurred after 10:30 p.m. Saturday on U.S. 30 in east Dallas, authorities reported. Two others sustained injuries in the crash, according to investigators.

Officials from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said Juan D. G. Becerra was driving a pickup truck at about 10:40 p.m. on U.S. 20 in the Old East Dallas neighborhood when he lost control of the vehicle. The truck crashed into a tree and flipped over, authorities reported.

Three people, including Juan P. R. Becerra, were transported to an area hospital, deputies said. Juan P. R. Becerra later was pronounced dead from his injuries.

The extent of the injuries of the other two passengers, neither of whom were publicly identified by investigators, were not immediately clear.

Sheriff’s department officials told local media outlets that the roads were wet, the vehicle might have been speeding and alcohol is suspected to be a factor.

Juan D.G. Becerra allegedly was arrested on suspicion of intoxication manslaughter. Dallas County Jail records don’t yet lest Juan D.G. Becerra or any upcoming court dates or bonds.
