The death of a man who was run over by a pickup truck Friday in Las Vegas has been ruled an accident by the Clark County Coroner’s Office.
Joseph Balcazar, 32, died as a result of blunt-force injuries, coroner’s office officials said this week. Another person struck by the truck Friday was critically injured, according to investigators.
Police said Balcazar and the other man, whom authorities have not yet identified publicly, started fighting on East Warm Springs Road near South Bruce Street on Friday afternoon. The fight then spilled into the street, according to authorities.
Both men then were struck by a passing pickup truck. Balcazar died as a result of his injuries while the other man was hospitalized. Authorities have not released a recent condition update regarding the other man.
Investigators haven’t yet disclosed what they believe caused the two men to begin fighting or whether they knew each other prior to the incident.
Authorities have not announced any citations or criminal charges in connection to the incident, though Clark County Coroner’s Office officials did deem the death accidental. Police have not publicly identified the driver of the pickup truck involved in the crash.
