39-Year-Old Woman Injured in Leroy Township Crash

In an accident that took place on Tuesday, March 24, one woman sustained injuries. According to the details shared by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, the two-vehicle incident was reported at around 4:20 p.m.

The 39-year-old woman who was injured in the incident was driving one of the two vehicles involved in the crash. The woman was driving a sedan while traveling northbound on the Six-Mile Road. Just south of the Battle Creek in Leroy Township, the woman hit a pothole unexpectedly. This caused her to lost control of the vehicle. The sedan then veered across the center line and entered the southbound lane into the path of the oncoming traffic.

It was then that a pickup truck collided head-on with the sedan. The driver of the pickup remained safe from any injuries. However, the woman driving the sedan sustained injuries and was taken to Bronson Battle Creek to receive treatment.

A number of agencies responded to the incident. In addition to the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department, these include Michigan State Police, Leroy Township Fire Department and LifeCare Ambulance.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident. Preliminary investigations conducted by the Accident Reconstruction Team of the Sheriff’s department reveal that alcohol and speed may have been notable factors that caused the crash. However, a more definite cause will be known once the authorities conclude the investigations.

The identities of the injured driver and the pickup driver have not been shared by the deputies yet. The nature and extent of the injuries incurred by the female driver also remain unknown at this time.

Updates to follow on the name of the victim.
