Matthew Vomastek Charged with Assault with Vehicle

Officers from the Wichita Falls Police Department have arrested Matthew Vomastek on charges of assault with a vehicle and resisting arrest.

Reports indicate that officers were summoned to Kemp Blvd. because of a car crash last Friday.

Witnesses told police the driver of a truck involved in the accident exited his vehicle and started to urinate.

Officers arrived on the scene and tried to detain Vomastek but he resisted arrest and they had to use a taser. He was then put in handcuffs.

Police said Vomastek’s speech was slurred and he used obscene language as officers tried to talk with him.

After he was taken to the hospital, Vomastek declined to have a blood test done and officers had to get a warrant in order to get him tested.

The driver of the other car was left with a serious broken arm and laceration while their passenger sustained a serious cut to the spleen that required an urgent operation. Their names were not released.

Police said Vomastek had rear-ended a car at the corner of Call Field Road and Kemp Blvd. two times before he drove off.

He then went over the median and hit the other car head-on.

Matthew Vomastek faces one charge of resisting arrest and two charges of intoxicated assault with a vehicle.

His bond was posted at $12,500 and he was let out of the Wichita County Jail.

Head-on collisions are often deadly because of the amount of force involved. Even though the accidents make up only two percent of reported crashes, they account for more than ten percent of fatalities.
