James L. McGee Killed in Monroe County Accident


An elderly man was killed in a crash that took place in the Monroe County, Michigan on Tuesday, March 31. The incident took place as a result of a collision between a pickup truck and a car. The victim was identified as James L. McGee, 77, of Toledo, Ohio as per the latest accident reports surrounding the incident.

According to the details shared by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, the car and truck accident was reported on Tuesday afternoon. Authorities were notified of the crash around 2:00 p.m. McGee, who lost his life in the accident, was traveling eastbound on Sterns at the time. McGee was driving a 2004 Buick Century at the time.

For some reason, McGee lost control of the car. The Buick then veered across the center line and came into the path of the westbound traffic. It was then that a 2000 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck collided into the Buick.

McGee sustained critical injuries as a result of the collision. As emergency responders arrived on the scene of the crash, they failed to revive McGee. He was pronounced dead on site.

The driver of the pickup truck involved in the crash remained relatively safe in the crash. The police didn’t name the driver although he was identified as a 38-year-old male driver from Toledo, Ohio. He was transported to the ProMedica Toledo Hospital to receive treatment for non-serious injuries.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident. At this point, the police are trying to determine the cause of the accident. Preliminary investigations show that speed was not a likely factor in the crash. Subsequent accident reports will ascertain what caused McGee to lose control of the vehicle.
