Avery Goswick, Brady Groezinger Injured In Jo Daviess County Crash

Authorities said two people were injured in a head-on wreck Sunday night near Stockton in Jo Daviess County.

Avery Goswick, 20, of Stockton, was transported via air ambulance to OSF Saint Medical Center in Rockford, according to a release from the Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Department. Twenty-six-year-old Brady Groezinger, of Hanover, was taken to FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport, deputies said.

Goswick reportedly was driving west on South Massbach Road southwest of Stockton at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday. At the same time, Groezinger was eastbound on the roadway.

The two vehicles crashed head-on, according to car accident reports. Authorities did not say in the press release which driver is believed to be at fault for the wreck.

Condition updates on both men weren’t available Monday evening. Car accident reports do not list any citations or charges in connection to the crash, nor do they state whether investigators believe factors such as speed or intoxication might have played roles in the incident.

The Jo Daviess County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident. If either man is deemed responsible for the wreck, it’s possible he will seek the services of a top accident lawyer.

A woman on Facebook who identified herself as Goswick’s mother posted several updates about his recovery, which thus far has included at least one surgery, according to her posts. She asks his friends to make videos of support for Goswick on TikTok, an app of which he is an avid user.

“To the Stockton community, you all are amazing in your continued outpouring of support,” the woman wrote in a Facebook post. “Obviously, (Goswick) will not be home today or tomorrow, but a small estimate is around two weeks at the soonest.”
