Coroner IDs Woman Killed in Mission Hills Vehicle Crash as Jasmin Recendiz Morales

Authorities have disclosed the identity of a woman who was killed in a traffic collision in Mission Hills, California after reportedly attacking her Uber driver and getting removed from the vehicle. Accident reports released by the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office on Sunday, April 12, named the woman as Jasmin Recendiz Morales, a 21-year-old Los Angeles resident.

The incident took place just before 12:45 am on Saturday, April 11, along the Ronald Reagan 118 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol, deputies first responded to the location after receiving calls of a pedestrian seated on the freeway at precisely 12:30 am.

Upon their arrival, the officers discovered that the pedestrian had already been struck and killed by a passing vehicle, just east of Sepulveda Boulevard.

Investigators gathered that the crash victim was traveling as a passenger on her way home in an uber when she began to display erratic behaviors towards the driver, forcing him to pull over, and forcefully expel her from the car.

After getting her out of the car, the woman then attempted to drive away with the uber but was stopped by the motorist, who carefully seized the keys from the ignition.

The driver soon took control of his car and pulled away, after which the woman walked into the busy traffic lanes, where an oncoming vehicle struck her.

The accident reports described the vehicle which hit Morales as a 2008 Nissan Altima.

An investigation into the fatal crash is underway.
