Clark County Crash Victim Identified as Dakota Sandiford

Authorities have identified the victim in a fatal crash that took place in the Clark County over the weekend. The deceased was identified by the Clark County Coroner as Dakota Sandiford, 30, of Westfield. The accident in which Sandiford died occurred on Saturday, September 26.

According to the details shared by the Illinois State Police, Sandiford was traveling on the Clarksville Road when the accident took place. As Sandiford was traveling eastbound along the road, she appears to have lost control of the vehicle for some reason. The precise location of the incident was close to the North 420th Street.

Just as Sandiford lost control, her vehicle veered away from the roadway and collided with a ditch. It then crashed into an embankment before overturning and coming to rest. During the collision and rollover, Sandiford was ejected from the vehicle.

She sustained severe injuries in the crash. The incident happened at around 10 p.m. Once the paramedics and law officers arrived on the scene of the crash, they found the vehicle in the south ditch. Sandiford succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene of the crash.

ISP initially withheld the identification details of Dakota Sandiford. However, these details were later released once the next-of-kin had been notified. The agency continues to investigate the crash.

The aim of the investigations at this point is to determine how and why the crash occurred. Common crash causes, including alcohol and speeding, have not been ruled out by the agency yet. Final accident reports may shed a light on the definite cause of the crash.
