Rollover Accident Leaves Loraine Smurr Injured

A woman and her two children were injured in a rollover accident that took place in the Bethel Township, Michigan on Monday, April 13. The incident occurred in the afternoon and was reported to the authorities around 3 p.m. as per accident reports.

According to the details shared by the Branch County Sheriff’s Department, the woman injured in the accident was identified as Loraine Smurr, 36. Loraine was traveling on the Batavia Road at the time of the crash. Just as she drew close to the Lockwood Road, she swerved aside to avoid hitting a deer which had run onto the road.

As Smurr swerved aside, she lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle entered a roadside ditch and then rolled over in a ploughed field before coming to a stop. Smurr had two children in the vehicle at the time, both her daughters aged 12 and 5. Fortunately, both children were secured inside the vehicle and sustained minor injuries in the rollover accident.

Smurr, on the other hand, sustained more serious injuries. According to the deputies, all three occupants of the vehicle were outside the vehicle when law enforcement personnel arrived on the scene. Smurr and her children were provided primary medical care at the scene. She was then transported to the Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall while the kids were handed to the family member who had arrived at the scene.

A number of agencies responded to the incident as per the accident reports. These include LifeCare Ambulance, Bronson Medical First Responders from the Bronson Fire Department, and the Branch County Sheriff’s Department.
