Arthur Brewer, 83, Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Detroit

A car accident lawyer would be required following the death of an elderly man who was struck by a hit-and-run driver in Detroit, Michigan. The incident took place on Tuesday, April 14, and left 83-year-old Arthur Brewer, of Detroit, fatally injured.

The tragic occurrence, which was witnessed by the victim’s wife, Charlene Brewer, played out in the afternoon, just outside the deceased’s home on Evergreen Road.

Police reports stated that the driver was traveling through the roadway in a 2012 Dodge Journey behind a DDOT bus. Just as the suspect accelerated to overtake the bus, he lost control of the vehicle, causing the Dodge to jump the sidewalk, hitting a tree on its part.

Upon taking to the curb, the vehicle crashed into Brewer’s car, parked on his driveway. The impact of the collision caused the struck vehicle to become airborne, and overturned, before landing on the 83-year-old, who was at the time unloading groceries from his car.

The offending driver drove further north on Evergreen Road, before pulling over, getting off the Dodge along with a juvenile, and joining a black Chevy Trailblazer that was following close behind.

Further investigations revealed that the trailblazer traveled east on Grand River, and then took to the north lanes on Plainview, at a high speed.

Neither the identity of the hit-and-run motorist, the child nor the operator of the trailblazer has been established.

Anyone with helpful information regarding the crash, the suspect, or the described vehicle is urged to contact crime stoppers, or the Detroit Police Department, to facilitate the investigation.

Although the suspect remains at large, the bereaved family of the fatal victim can make a wrongful death claim under the guidance of a car accident lawyer, and get duly compensated for damages.
