A woman lost her life in an accident that took place in the Vermilion County on Friday, April 17. The incident happened early in the morning and was reported to the authorities around 2:50 a.m. as per the accident reports.
According to the details shared by the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Department, the victim has been identified as Carrie A. Nixon, 43, of Danville, Illinois. The crash in which Nixon lost her life happened in the 1800 block of Vine Street. It was a single-vehicle crash in which no other vehicle or person was involved.
Nixon was traveling eastbound on Vine Street when she apparently lost control of her vehicle. There was no other occupant in the vehicle at the time. As Nixon lost control, the vehicle veered off the roadway and collided into a utility pole. Following the collision, the vehicle finally entered a deep ravine before finally coming to rest. Nixon sustained critical injuries in the accident.
A number of local officials responded to the single-vehicle crash. These include the Vermilion County Sheriff’s Office and the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office. As first responders, law enforcement personnel and deputies with the Sheriff’s Office arrived on the crash site, Nixon was pronounced dead.
