Keonna Horner Killed, 3 Others Injured In Panola County Crash

A woman was killed and three people were injured in a head-on crash just outside Clayton in Panola County on Monday afternoon, according to authorities.

Keonna R. Horner, 34, of North Little Rock, Ark., died from injuries sustained in the wreck, which occurred a few minutes before 3:30 p.m. Monday on Texas 315, according to car accident reports from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The other driver, Brian L. Coles, 71, of Houston, and his passengers, Sean Coles, 39, also of Houston, and an 11-year-old boy, also suffered injuries in the crash, troopers reported.

Authorities said Horner was driving west on Texas 315 about one mile outside Clayton at about 3:20 p.m. when she lost control of her vehicle and crossed the centerline. Car accident reports state Horner crashed into another vehicle, operated by Brian Coles.

Emergency medical personnel transported Horner to a nearby hospital, where she ultimately succumbed to her injuries. Troopers said Brian Coles was treated and released at a hospital.

Sean Coles and the passenger also were hospitalized, but car accident reports available Tuesday did not provide updated condition reports.

The Texas Department of Public Safety Continues to investigate the incident. Authorities said they do not know why Horner’s vehicle crossed the centerline, nor have they said whether they suspect factors like intoxicants, speed or inattentive driving contributed to the wreck.

More details will be included in upcoming car accident reports.
