Man Killed After Disembarking RTC Bus in Las Vegas Valley

Accident reports out of Nevada say a 40-year-old passenger was killed after he got out of a Regional Transportation Commission bus on Friday night.

The accident occurred at around 8:53 p.m. on East Silverado Ranch Boulevard west of South Maryland Parkway at the bus stop to the west of the intersection.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said the man stumbled off the vehicle, lost his balance, and fell head-first into the gutter area under the passenger side of the bus.

The bus pulled off and the rear tires rolled over the unidentified man. The driver reportedly stopped right away.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and reports indicate he was not carrying identification.

Police said the man appeared to be under the influence of a substance, but this is yet to be confirmed.

Once he has been identified and his next of kin notified, the Clark County Coroner’s Office will release his name.

In the meantime, the LVMPD Collision Investigation Section will continue to probe the incident.

Silverado Ranch between Maryland and Bermuda Road was closed for hours as police investigated the collision.

Subsequent accident reports will likely shed further light on the victim and the circumstances surrounding the accident.

An update will be provided at that time.

This accident was the 31st traffic fatality investigated by Metro police for the year so far. In cases where the accident was caused by someone else’s negligence, families often seek representation from a car injury lawyer.
