A fifteen-year-old boy was struck by a car as he ran across the street, sustaining injuries as a result of the accident. The accident occurred in San Diego today in the 13500 block of Carmel Mountain road near Defreitas Avenue. The accident took place in Rancho Penasquitos at around 7:15 a.m. and caused traffic to be blocked. The road remained closed until 11 a.m. as authorities investigated the accident. The youth was rushed to a local area hospital by paramedics, where he was treated for compound fractures to his leg.
A lot of pertinent information is left out that would tell us who may have been truly at fault for the accident. Although we do know the young man was running across the street, we do not know if he was doing so inside a crosswalk or even if the walk light had just turned indicating he could proceed. Either way, the driver who struck him could face a personal injury lawsuit from the boys parents, especially if negligence was behind the pedestrian knockdown collision.
