Driver Killed after Car Loses Control

One person is dead after a car crash in Oceanside last Saturday.

At approximately 10:55 p.m., the driver of a 2008 Honda Civic traveling north on Canyon Drive went through the T-intersection with State Route 76 and hit a curb and retaining wall on the opposite side. This caused the car to leave the road and fly 80 to 100 feet through the air, before hitting a nearby bike path, rolling over, and coming to a rest upside down.

Police found the driver dead inside the car. No other information about the driver has been released, including name or gender.

No other persons or cars were involved in the crash, which was reported by witnesses. The investigation is still ongoing, and police are unsure what caused the accident, or whether alcohol or drugs were a factor.
