The St. Joseph County authorities have disclosed the identity of a teenager who was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Nottawa Township, Michigan. New accident reports released by the police on Wednesday, April 29, as Karly Bingaman, a 19-year-old woman from Three Rivers.
Officers responded to the crash on Tuesday, April 28, shortly after it occurred in the 56000 block of Covered Bridge Road. The crash was called in by witnesses, who alerted police of a vehicle that crashed into a tree in the area.
According to the reports, Karly Bingaman was the driver and sole occupant of a vehicle which was traveling along the north traffic lanes of Covered Bridge Road.
For reasons yet to be determined, the vehicle swayed out of the roadway and collided with a tree, causing serious damages to the car.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found the female motorist unresponsive in her wrecked car. Paramedics confirmed that she was dead.
Authorities did not suspect impairment by drugs or alcohol as a possible factor in the crash; neither was speed suspected. The St. Joseph County authorities are investigating the case to determine what caused Bingaman’s vehicle to leave the road.
As part of the investigation, detectives would look into other possible factors like distracted driving, an unforeseen road hazard, an underlying medical condition, or a possible fault in the vehicle. Any new findings would be included in the accident reports upon conclusion of the investigation.
