A single-vehicle crash involving a pickup truck which took place in Orange County, Texas, left a motorist fatally injured. According to accident reports obtained from the Texas Department of Public Safety, the deadly incident was recorded on the morning of Tuesday, April 28.
As reported, DPS troopers were dispatched to a location on FM 1130, at about 2 am, on reports of a crashed vehicle near Zavalla Road.
Investigators determined that the victim was traveling at a high rate of speed through the northbound lanes on FM 1130 in a 2001 Ford F-150 pickup truck.
While in transit, the motorist attempted a curve but lost control of the vehicle, causing it to drift off the roadway and into the woods nearby. The Ford struck several trees before finally halting.
The operator of the pickup sustained critical injuries in the traffic wreck and was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital, where sadly, he eventually died from his wounds. A hospital staff pronounced the fatal victim dead at about 4 pm on the same day.
Authorities have since identified the decedent as Charles Murphy, a 60-year-old resident of Orange County. He was the only occupant of the Ford Pickup at the time of the crash and was not restrained by a seat belt.
The accident reports did not ascertain whether drugs and alcohol were contributing factors in the traffic collision that resulted in Charles Murphy’s death. Investigations into the incident are still in the works.
