A Winona man died on Friday, two days after he was involved in a motorcycle crash.

According to accident reports, he is 40-year-old James Eliot Lamb.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said troopers responded to the accident on Farm-to-Market Road 16 just before 1:30 a.m.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Lamb was riding east on FM 16 when he struck a tree that had fallen into the street during bad weather.

Lamb was transported to UT Health East Texas in Tyler where he passed away.

Lamb was reportedly in a coma after suffering severe brain injuries and multiple broken bones.

 This is according to a Facebook page dedicated to former students of Mesquite High School who have passed away. 

Lamb was said to be a member of the class of 1998. A tribute said he loved to ride, and he was known in the biker community as Easy G.

The crash will remain under investigation and more information could be published in future accident reports.

Motorcycles are hugely popular in Texas. Unfortunately, the state also records high numbers of fatalities among motorcyclists.
