The expertise of a car accident lawyer would come in handy following the identification of a passenger killed last week in a fiery crash in North Austin, Texas. The Austin Police Department, on Wednesday, May 13, disclosed the fatal victim’s identity as James Henry Omary, 66.
Police got whiff of the traffic collision shortly after 3 p.m., on Friday, May 8. Responding officers said it happened in the area of Metric Boulevard, just south of West Parmer Lane. It involved no fewer than three vehicles which collided on the northbound lanes and left no fewer than five casualties in its wake including a deceased man.
Initial reports suggest that Omary was travelling as a passenger in one of the vehicles, a red 2012 Mitsubishi Galant. The car was driving through the north lanes of Metric Blvd, conveying at least four passengers.
At the same time, a GMC SUV and a white 2018 Hino van were southbound on the same route. Just as the vehicles approached the 12300-block of Metric, one crashed into the other. The impact of the collision forced the Hino over the centre divider, onto oncoming traffic on the north lanes.
Almost immediately, the van collided with the northbound Gallant, causing severe damages. All five occupants in the struck vehicle, including Omary, sustained injuries. Paramedics arrived at the scene shortly after and transported Omary to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center for treatment of major injuries. He gave in to his wounds eventually.
The drivers of the other two vehicles went unscathed. They waited at the scene and cooperated with officers.
The crash remains under investigation. Authorities have asked anyone with useful information regarding the incident to contact the Austin Police Department.
