Four Injured After Dominica Lopez Crashes into Police Vehicle

Two police officers and two 21-year-old women were taken to hospital after a suspected drunk driver struck a patrol car on Thursday morning.

According to accident reports, the four suffered minor injuries as a result of the crash that occurred on Interstate 35E in Dallas around 3:55 a.m.

The patrol car was on the scene of an unrelated major crash at the Marvin D. Love Freeway split.

The Dallas Police Department said officers were shutting down the freeway so they could investigate the crash and the scene could be cleared.

However, 21-year-old Dominica Lopez allegedly failed to move over for the patrol cars and she crashed into one of the vehicles, causing it to spin and strike the officers.

The lights on the police car were said to be flashing at the time.

Police said Lopez was carrying two passengers and they were both injured. They were taken to Methodist Dallas Medical Center for medical attention.

The backseat passenger who was sitting to the left of Lopez’s vehicle received a broken nose, while the front seat passenger sustained a broken arm.

The two police officers were also taken to Methodist Dallas with injuries that appeared to be minor.

Meanwhile, Lopez was arrested and charged with intoxication assault which is typically a third-degree felony.

If convicted, she could spend between two and ten years in prison. She could also have to pay a fine of up to $10,000.

Police will continue their investigations and additional car accident reports could be forthcoming.
