Christian Estoque Arrested After Crashing Stolen Plane in Fullerton

A man ended up in police custody after crashing an airplane determined stolen into a fence at an airport in Fullerton, California. Accident reports provided by the Fullerton Police Department confirmed that the incident took place on Wednesday, May 20.

FPD dispatched officers to the Fullerton airport just after 3:05 p.m., after receiving a report of a single-engine plane crash. The crash caused serious damages to parts of the airport’s west wing but left no one seriously injured.

Responding officers gathered that the non-injury wreck began when a pilot operating a Cessna airplane attempted to take off from the Fullerton Airport. The single-engine craft suddenly drifted off the runway and smashed violently into a fence on the west side of the airport. The impact left a hole in the fence while causing minor damage to the Cessna 172 airplane.

Upon interrogation, officers discovered inconsistencies in the pilot’s statement, raising suspicions that he may have stolen the plane. In addition, the acclaimed pilot, identified as Christian Estoque of Covina, did not have a pilot’s license, according to the Fullerton Police spokesperson, Sgt. Eric Bridges.

Detectives conducted further investigation and unveiled that Estoque stole the craft earlier out of Chino Airport. They took him in custody, on suspicion of Grand Theft, and theft of an aircraft, as disclosed in the accident reports. No new information is available at this time.

The plane crash remains under investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration.
