Meagan Lee Killed in Traffic Crash Near Cresson

Meagan Lee

A woman identified as Meagan Lee turned up dead this week after a vehicle she was driving spun out of control and struck a tractor-trailer in the Cresson area, Texas. The incident took place shortly after noon on Monday, May 25, according to the accident reports provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Reports from the DPS suggested the two vehicles collided at about 12:15 p.m. on State Highway 171. One of the motorists involved in the collision suffered fatal injuries, while the other survived the wreck.

The incident began when a 22-year-old woman from Garland was driving a Kia Sorento southbound on the state highway. The roadway was reportedly wet from the rain at the time, which may have caused the woman’s vehicle to lose traction and swerved off the south lanes, detectives said.

The vehicle crossed the centre divider, into northbound traffic where it encountered a northbound semi tractor-trailer. The impact caused the Kia to spin out, expelling the Garland woman in the process. Responding medical personnel declared the Kia’s operator deceased at the scene.

Authorities later disclosed the fatal victim’s identity as Meagan Lee. The motorist behind the wheels of the big rig, identified as Billy Jones, a 60-year-old resident of Chico, emerged from the traffic wreck unscathed.

The accident reports did not reveal whether drugs, alcohol, distraction, or overspeeding contributed to the tragic accident.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, by the DPS.
