Alexis Saborit Arrested for Harris County Crash that Killed Jarvis Taylor and One Other

A high-speed chase in northwest Harris County, Texas, on Monday night, May 25th, led a man into oncoming traffic, causing an accident that killed two people. Alexis Saborit, 31, would need a top accident lawyer following his arrest by the police.

According to the investigators with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, a DWI (driving while intoxicated) unit saw a Mercedes driven by the suspect speeding on the northbound lane of Veterans Memorial Drive. The street is near Rainy River, west of North Freeway.

A deputy tried to get Saborit to pull over, but he kept going. The Mercedes passed Highway 249 and drove straight into oncoming traffic. The man struck a male bicyclist identified as a 63-year-old Jarvis Taylor in the outside lane. He moved on and collided head-on with a Buick Lacrosse.

The bicycle rider sustained severe wounds, and the medics used an ambulance to convey him to a local hospital where he passed away while receiving treatment. They flew the Buick driver identified as a 57-year-old male to a different hospital where he died shortly before midnight.

Saborit sustained severe injuries, and the authorities after arresting him at the accident scene took him to Ben Taub Hospital. The suspect was going at 61 mph in a 25mph zone, and the investigators believe he was also impaired.

HCSO Sgt. Simon Cheng said in a news briefing that the man said he ran from the police because there is an open parole warrant for his arrest. He is facing two counts of murder, and a top accident lawyer would represent his interest during the trial.
