A 27-year-old man has been arrested after being involved in an accident that left Ginger Mattox dead.
He is Gary Joseph Brauneis.
According to accident reports, it took place on Thursday night at the corner of Pond Springs Road and U.S. 183 North.
Austin Police Department investigators said Brauneis was going north on the U.S. 183 service road in a grey 2010 Mazda M3i.
His vehicle crashed into the back of a white 2014 GMC truck that had stopped at the stop light on Pond Springs Road.
The impact sent the truck into the intersection. Meanwhile the Mazda kept going north until it went on to the sidewalk and struck Mattox.
The car stopped when it crashed into a building.
The driver of the GMC suffered injuries that were not thought to be life-threatening and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Meanwhile, Mattox was taken to St. David’s Round Rock Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.
Brauneis was arrested and taken to the Williamson County Jail on charges of intoxication manslaughter and DWI.

This crash was the 34th fatal traffic accident in Austin for the year so far, based on official accident reports. There have been 36 fatalities. At this point in 2019, there were 33 accident-related deaths.
