In new reports of a car accident which happened this week in Bryan, Texas, police confirmed the death of a woman who encountered a rollover crash. The fatal occurrence played out just before dawn on Thursday, May 28.

Bryan police officers responded to the crash at about 3:45 a.m. on reports of a solo crash that left the victim unresponsive. Responding officers found an overturned vehicle near the 4100 block of FM 1179 at Boonville.

Investigators determined that the vehicle was traveling through the west traffic lanes of Boonville. Authorities said 36-year-old Christine Marie Rene, of Caldwell, was behind the wheels of the car at the time. Just as she approached the 4100 block, Rene’s vehicle left the roadway and flipped over at least once.

The vehicle then skidded down a ravine located off the road, ejecting the motorist in the process. Emergency responders arrived a short while later and pronounced the woman deceased at the scene. Investigators did not immediately determine what caused Rene’s vehicle to drift off the roadway, or whether impairment played a role in the traffic wreck.

Following the crash, all lanes on FM1179 remained shut for hours as officers worked to gather evidence and clear out the wreckage. The westbound lanes on Boonville also got closed down. All oncoming vehicles took alternative routes on Thornberry.

The incident remains under investigation by the Bryan Police Department. The Bryan Police urged commuters with additional reports about the car accident to contact the department.
