Man Faulted in Amarillo Fatal Collision Identified as Paul Vincent Chavez

The identification of a motorist charged with causing a tragic collision that claimed one life in Amarillo, Texas, calls for the intervention of a top accident lawyer. The Amarillo Police Department, on Thursday, May 28, named 30-year-old Paul Vincent Chavez as the suspect.

The incident, which led to the man’s arrest, played out at about 3:40 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26, at Southwest 46th and South Parker Street. Officers said a major wreck involving at least two vehicles happened at the intersection, leaving one of the involved motorists fatally injured, and another hospitalized.

Amarillo Police investigators gathered that one of the vehicles was traveling through the south traffic lanes of Parker. At the same time, another car, driven by 58-year-old Kenneth Ulibarri of Amarillo, was headed east on Parker.

Police said Chavez ran a red light at the intersection and t-boned the eastbound vehicle. The impact of the collision sent Ulibarri’s car skidding off the roadway, into a home located on the 4600 block of South Parker. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene.

The other vehicle veered in the opposite direction and hit an electric pole before overturning onto its side. Chavez pulled himself from the car and left the scene before police arrived. The Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers eventually found the suspect hiding in a shed near the crash site.

They transported him first to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries before booking him. He now faces charges of Murder and Accident Causing Death. He also has an outstanding felony warrant for assault.

The suspect would require representation by a top accident lawyer during the legal proceedings.
