Michael Everson Fatally Injured in Clear Lake Bicycle Accident

Nicholas R. Smith

A bicycle accident attorney’s expertise would come in handy following the death of a cyclist who got hit by a vehicle in Clear Lake, California. The tragic vehicle-bicycle crash played out at night on Sunday, May 31.

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the California Highway Patrol officers responded to the crash at about 10:40 p.m. The fatal occurrence happened near the intersection of Highway 53 and Dam Road, leaving the 20-year-old cyclist as its only fatal victim.

Investigators determined that the victim was riding his bicycle on the roadside at 53 when an approaching vehicle collided with him. The cyclist ended up sprawled on the roadway, beside his dented bike.

Emergency responders showed up at the scene not long after and pronounced the rider dead. The Lake County sheriff disclosed the victim’s identity as Michael Dale Anthony Everson. Authorities withheld the identity of the motorist involved.

The accident reports failed to ascertain whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the traffic collision.

The incident is under investigation by the Clear Lake Area Office of the California Highway Patrol. Investigators are working to establish the cause and liability of the accident and the circumstances that led to the encounter.

If the motorist is found liable, the fatal victim’s family can sue the culprit using a wrongful death claim. The family would, in that case, require a bicycle accident attorney to pursue the lawsuit.
