Police Detain Larry Davis for Fleeing the Scene of Montgomery Three-Vehicle Collision

The Montgomery Police Department on Wednesday morning, June 17th, detained a driver who fled the scene of a three-vehicle collision in Montgomery, Illinois. The accident report identified the man as Larry Davis, 41, of Downer PI., and he would need the expertise of a top accident lawyer.

According to the MPD, the collision took place at approximately 12:08 a.m. on Montgomery Road and Douglas Road. The investigators said that Davis left the scene because he was driving with a suspended license. The Aurora Police Department later located the suspect’s car and determined he was the driver.

The APD took Davis into custody and transported him to the Montgomery Police, where they cited him for driving while license suspended, leaving the scene of a property damage accident and disobeying a traffic control device. The police released the man from their custody afterwards. There were no injuries.

In Illinois, leaving the scene of an accident is also a hit-and-run and punishable by law. When a person sustains injuries, and a driver flees the scene, prosecutors try it as a class four felony. Offenders can face up to 15 years prison sentence and fines up to $20,000.

To avoid the above, drivers should remain at the scene of an accident, check for injuries, contact the relevant authorities, and remain at the crash site until they arrive. If there’s no injury, check for property damage, locate the owner, or leave behind relevant contact information.
