David Lawrence II Arrested for Rockford Hit-and-Run Accident

A 21-year-old man would need auto accident attorneys’ services following his arrest for a hit-and-run accident in Rockford, Illinois. A city resident, David Lawrence II, struck and injured a pedestrian on Wednesday morning, July 1st.

The accident report showed that the crash happened around 2 a.m. in the 2300-block of Harrison Avenue at Victory Tap. The Rockford Police Department responded to a call about the crash, and responding officers found the female victim lying on the ground in a parking lot.

They transported the woman to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The police located Lawrence a short time afterward and took him into custody. They booked him into the Winnebago County Jail, charged him with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident involving injury and failure to give information.

When a car accident occurs, whether it’s a collision against a pedestrian or another vehicle, the persons with liability usually have a flight or fight response. Under Illinois law, leaving the scene of an accident is a severe offense with strict punishments.

An offender must remain at a crash site whether or not a person suffered an injury. When the latter happens, and the offenders flees, the prosecutors will bring a Class 4 felony charge punishable with 1 to 3 years imprisonment and a fine of $25 000. If there’s a death, it is a Class 3 felony that is punishable with five years of imprisonment and a $25 000 fine.
