An early morning police chase on Sunday, August 16th, in Southern Illinois, left one person dead and another injured. The Illinois State Police revealed the name of the fatal victim as Marquan L. Reed, a 20-year-old resident of Charleston, Missouri.
In the car accident report, the ISP said that the events leading to the incident began at approximately 2:12 a.m. at Alexander County. The state police said that the county sheriff deputies tried to stop a 2011 Ford Fusion for a traffic violation, but the car failed to stop.
The sheriff’s deputies then began pursuing the Ford, and the chase continued into Pulaski County. At this point, the vehicle lost control and struck a house on the 300-block of Oak Street in Mounds. Reed suffered fatal wounds, and the Pulaski County Coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.
The ISP said the other three occupants of the vehicle, Desmond T. Greer, 29, of Wyatt, Missouri, Antonio L. Tate, 30, and Ronald W. Mitchell, 28, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and received treatment at an area hospital. Both Tate and Mitchell are from Charleston, Missouri.
The state police have not released charges against the three survivors, but that might change pending the investigation’s conclusion. There is no additional information.
