Kyle Casey Identified as the Motorcycle Rider Killed in a Traffic Collision on U.S. Route 150

On Wednesday, September 9th, the McLean County Coroner’s Office identified the man killed in a traffic collision on U.S. Route 150 in Illinois’ McLean County area. Coroner Dr. Kathy Yoder revealed the victim’s name as Kyle P. Casey, a 23-year-old Normal resident.

The auto-motorcycle accident happened on Tuesday night, September 8th. Yoder said that medics pronounced the man dead around 11:46 p.m. She said that the autopsy revealed that Casey died of blunt force injuries, and a toxicology test is pending.

The accident report released by the Illinois State Police showed that the victim operated a 2006 Honda Motorcycle southbound on USR-150 near W. College Avenue. Simultaneously, 52-year-old Collinsville resident, Scott Pulliam, drove a 2017 Chevrolet van on the same roadway.

The investigators said that Casey struck the van’s rear, but did not indicate if the impact ejected him from his motorcycle. The crash led to the roadway’s closure for about five hours, and the ISP reopened it around 4:21 a.m. The investigation is ongoing.

Auto-motorcycle collisions are not uncommon, and the motorcycle rider often ends up fatally injured due to the bike’s open design. Motorcycle riders must protect themselves by wearing a safety helmet adequately fastened.

Wear safety apparel, drive within the speed limit, avoid lane splitting, and weaving in and out of traffic. Additionally, keep riding skills honed, ride with the headlight on at night, ride without impairment, and frequently maintain the motorcycle.
