On Thursday, September 10th, the Clark County Coroner’s Office identified the fatal victim of a car accident on Sahara near Interstate 15 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Keon Lesane Dawson rode a trike that collided with a car on Wednesday night, September 9th.
The Nevada Highway Patrol said in the accident report that the occurrence took place around 10:30 p.m. The preliminary investigation showed that a Chrysler sedan made a left turn from the eastbound Sahara onto the northbound I-15.
Simultaneously, Dawson’s CanAm Trike was westbound on Sahara and went through a red light, striking the car. Responding medics transported the man to University Medical Center, where medical personnel pronounced him dead. The investigation is ongoing.
Riding a trike is not common on Nevada roadways, and while they are relatively safe to operate, they have fatal consequences when they get into an accident. Thus, riders must prioritize safety by following safety tips and the road’s rules when riding.
Before mounting the trike, riders must check to ensure that everything is working, and there won’t be any mechanical defects once on the road. To achieve this, check the tire pressure to ensure that they are fully inflated and not prone to blowouts.
Squeeze the brake levers to ensure applying a small amount of pressure is enough to stop the wheels, and perform routine engine maintenance. Add lubricants to the chain, and check to verify that all the external bolts are fastened securely.
