Traffic accidents are one of the leading causes of death in California and the United States. With people driving to various locations daily and engaging in dangerous road behaviors, law enforcement, and traffic agencies release safety tips for drivers to follow.

They include pulling into traffic slowly; look, stop, listen, and pay attention to blindspots, especially behind big vehicles like semis. Watch out for red-light runners, and look both ways at the intersection to ensure no one is trying to beat a yellow light.

Always keep at least one hand on the steering wheel, and reduce in-car distractions like eating, calling, texting, or changing CDs. Watch out for children and animals when driving through a residential neighborhood, perform regular engine maintenance, and scan the road twelve seconds ahead.
