Fatal Motorcycle Accident in Rancho Santa Fe; One Dead, One Seriously Injured

UPDATE: The passenger has been identified as 49-year-old, Stephanie Lynn England. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and friends.

In a tragic motorcycle accident in Rancho Santa Fe on Via De Fortuna, one person has been killed and another has been seriously injured. The male, who survived has been identified as William Jimenez, 58, and was the driver of the motorcycle. Jimenez’s passenger who died on the scene has not yet been identified. Jimenez was driving his Harley Davidson northbound on Via De Fortuna when for unknown reasons went off-road and collided with several trees, brush and a fence. His passenger was pinned underneath the motorcycle and Jimenez was transported to the local Scripps La Jolla Hospital nearby.

While the investigation is currently still pending, it is not clear what caused the crash. There are many reasons other than driver error that could have caused this crash including:

  • Product Liability: there are many dangerous products that are put into the consumer marketplace every year. Cars and motorcycle are no exception.
  • Dangerous Roads: there are many roads and highways that have become dangerous because of some faulty design or natural changes – every year many people are injured or killed due to a road design defect

An immediate investigation must be conducted into the causes of this crash. All evidence should be preserved, witnesses need to be identified.  For a free legal consultation, please call our sponsoring attorney’s firm today (888) 853-6696.
