A crash in Irvine resulted in a fatality that took the life of a vehicle driver traveling on the I-405 around 2:30 a.m. The collision occurred at Irvine Center Drive after a 1991 Mazda began weaving in the southbound lanes of the 405 Highway. The car then swerved to the right onto the right shoulder and hit a tree after which the vehicle burst into flames. The victim, a 27-year-old Aliso Viejo man, died on the scene.
There are many facts about this case that should make surviving family members investigate the cause of the collision. One is that the car was weaving dangerously in and out of traffic. Unless the driver was drunk this could mean that the vehicle may have malfunctioned. Also, the car burst into flames when it hit the tree. Research into the fire could also indicate that the car was not functioning as it should. If the young man’s family comes to the conclusion that defective auto parts were behind the crash, they could have legal recourse via a product liability related wrongful death lawsuit.
