14-year-old Spencer Hoover was run down and killed by a hit-and-run driver in the Inglewood district at 1 am Monday morning. The boy was crossing the street when the car struck the youth and drug him 50 feet. Witnesses say that the impact was severe enough to knock the teen out of his shoes. The driver not stop. Although the teen was jaywalking when the incident occurred, the motorist is still liable for hitting the young man and fleeing the scene, authorities say. This is especially true since it was estimated that the driver was going well over 100 miles an hour prior to and after the accident.
The car that hit Spencer Hoover was described as a dark red Ford Focus with tinted windows. The car should have extensive front end damage.
