Marshall Blanchard

On Tuesday, August 18th, the Kern County Coroner’s Office, named the man killed in a collision in Bakersfield, California. Updates made to the accident report showed that Michael Paul Brashear, 30, died at the scene.

The crash happened last Thursday, August 13th, at about 2:24 p.m. on 3100-block of Berkshire Road, east of Wibble Road near Greenland Lane. The coroner’s office said that Brashear’s sedan collided head-on with a Dodge truck.

The Bakersfield Police Department said that the truck’s driver sustained injuries, and medics conveyed the person to a nearby hospital for treatment. The collision’s cause is under investigation, and anyone with relevant information should contact the investigators at the station or the listed line.

Motor vehicle collisions occur for many reasons, and the only way to avoid them is by following safety tips and practicing safe road habits. When driving, motorists should give enough room for braking distance, and stay on the right side of the road unless about to make a turn.

Assume that other drivers are prone to make mistakes, preempt them, and plan for a possible collision. After refueling a car, check the oil and other fluid levels, and look for noticeable leaks in the engine compartment.

If a car stalls on the road, the driver should move it to the slow lane if on a highway, and remain inside unless necessary to step out. Put on the hazard lights to allow other motorists to see the parked vehicle, call the relevant authorities, and wait for them to arrive.
