Accident reports state that a rancher found the body of a man identified as Daniel Koudelka and his crashed vehicle in San Miguel, San Luis Obispo County, California. The discovery was made on Monday, June 1, around 5:20 pm.
Following the discovery, the rancher contacted the authorities, and officers of the California Highway Patrol trooped to the crash scene. They began to conduct initial investigations into the collision. Their findings led them to believe that the deceased crashed the vehicle on Sunday, May 31.
The crash report revealed that Koudelka was on the wheels of a 2013 Nissan Juke, northbound on Ranchita Canyon Road. He was driving at an unknown speed and soon veered his vehicle off course, went off the road and onto a dirt shoulder.
Investigations also showed that the car overturned three times before coming to rest on its wheels in a dry creek bed. Koudelka suffered severe injuries as a result of the crash and died soon after.
The CHP also said that they expect impairment to be a factor in the crash. Investigations into the collision remain ongoing. No further information is available about the crash at this time.
Drivers must avoid drinking alcohol or taking drugs before operating their vehicles. Accident reports show that DUI and DWI cause many crashes that occur on the roadway.
When motorists consume alcohol or drugs before driving, they are not usually in control of themselves or their vehicles. This leads to dangerous driving and causes accidents that may be fatal or lead to critical injuries.
