The woman who was killed last week in a tragic traffic collision involving a car and a big rig in Fresno, California, has been identified. Updated accident reports obtained from the California Highway Patrol on Sunday, April 19, disclosed the victim’s identity as Christina Barton, 33. The reports, however, did not indicate the involvement of a car accident lawyer.
The accident took place on Thursday, April 16, on Highway 99, just north of Herndon Avenue, as reported by the CHP.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a Sedan conveying two occupants was driving through the highway. For reasons yet to be established, the vehicle slammed into a semi tractor-trailer from behind, causing the car to flip over before coming to rest on its roof.
The two occupants of the sedan remained pinned in the dented vehicle following the collision. Fire Department personnel arrived at the accident location shortly after and applied mechanical rescue equipment to extricate the trapped victims from the wreckage.
Christina Barton, who was traveling as a passenger in the car, was discovered dead, while the motorist suffered severe injuries. Paramedics transported the driver of the sedan to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
No information was released about the operator of the semi or his medical condition. The fatal incident remains under investigation by the CHP.
Victims of car accidents are urged to consult a car accident lawyer to review the case before further steps are taken.
