Cyclist Killed in Oxnard Vehicle-Bicycle Crash Identified as Michael Nunziato

Michael Nunziato

The Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has identified a man who died on Sunday morning after a car fatally struck his bicycle in Oxnard, California. The victim’s name was disclosed on Tuesday, April 28, as Michael Nunziato, 49, of Oxnard, in new accident reports, which did not confirm the involvement of a bicycle accident attorney.

The collision happened at about 4:30 am on April 26, in the 2400 block of Statham Boulevard. Investigations conducted at the scene of the crash revealed that the bicyclist was riding along the roadway at the same time as a 2017 Honda Civic traveling north.

The Honda Civic, for unknown reasons, struck the cyclist who was keeping to the side of the road. The impact of the collision knocked Nunziato off his bike, causing him fatal injuries.

When first responders arrived, they attempted several life-saving measures to resuscitate the cyclist, but he succumbed to his wounds before he could be taken to a hospital.

The motorist that struck Michael Nunziato, name withheld, was not harmed in the collision. The reports did not disclose whether drugs or alcohol were factors in the traffic collision.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident, and have asked anyone with useful information that could help solve the case to contact the Oxnard Police department.

It is advisable for victims of bicycle accidents, or their family to contact a bicycle accident attorney for representation.
