Car Crash on 10 Freeway Leaves One Man and Dog Dead; 2 Injured


In a horrific scene on the 10 freeway westbound this morning, David Sanders, 32-years-old, from El Monte and his pitbull were killed when a utility truck was going in reverse (wrong way) and both vehicles collided. The two passengers in the utility truck were Caltrans contractors/employees and were taken to a nearby Kaiser Hospital and received treatment for minor injuries. This tragic crash occurred at around 4:10am.

CHP Officers arrived at the scene where Sanders and his dog were both died. According to the CHP, David Sander’s was driving his 2002 Ford Windstar and was travelling 65 mph when the crash occurred on the westbound 10 freeway near the Peck Road exit.

There have been reports that the passengers in the car going the wrong way were not only Caltrans contractors, but were also employees of Atkins Construction.
