Angela Hansen, a 21-year-old woman from Sycamore, was involved in an accident when her motorcycle struck a tractor-trailer truck. The collision occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. yesterday on Route 20 near the intersection of Plank Road in Elgin Township.

Ms. Hansen was thrown from her motorcycle upon impact with the tractor-trailer. Despite wearing a helmet and safety gear, Hansen was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident from her severe injuries. The driver of the truck was uninjured in the crash and was able to drive away from the scene.

No tickets were issued immediately following the accident and the crash remains under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s office.

There are many unknowns currently, and an immediate investigation must begin to preserve key evidence into the cause or causes of this unfortunate crash. For example, the maintenance of the motorcycle, its tires, its manufacturing must be examined carefully.
