Ethan Prestage Identified as Victim of Carlsbad Solo-Crash Accident

On Thursday, June 25th, updated accident reports named 16-year-old Ethan Prestage as one of the teenagers injured in a car accident in Carlsbad, California. The crash happened on Wednesday, June 24th, and it affected a total of eight people.

The accident report showed that the teenagers were traveling in a Toyota 4Runner SUV driven by a female teen when they crashed around 2:30 a.m. near Carlsbad Village Drive. The driver lost control of the vehicle, and the investigation to determine the cause is ongoing.

When the Carlsbad Police arrived at the scene, they found 16-year-old Jack Munday dead at the scene, and four injured teenagers, including Prestage. They found one person in the trunk of the car. Three of the teens had walked away, and the officers located them a block away at Pio Pico Drive.

The medics transported the injured seven to hospitals with undisclosed injuries. Prestage, who is a competitive skateboarder and surfer, is in an intensive care unit in critical condition. There is currently no update on the identity of the remaining six injured teenagers. Drugs and alcohol did not play a role in the accident.

According to the Center for Disease Control, motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of US teens’ death. The center believes that teen collisions are preventable if they follow the strategies for their safety when on the road. Some of the strategies include practicing safe road behaviors, wearing seatbelts, and maintaining the speed limit.
