Fatal Victim of Pomona Car Crash Identified as Christopher Gilpineda

The identity of the man who was tragically killed last weekend after being struck by a vehicle in Pomona, California, has been revealed in new accident reports. The California Highway Patrol, on Monday, April 13, named the fatal victim as Christopher Gilpineda, a 21-year-old resident of Montebello.

The incident took place along 10 Freeway, near the Kellogg Drive area on Saturday night, April 11. Officers were dispatched to the crash site just after 11:25 pm, following reports from eyewitnesses.

Responding officers determined that Gilpineda was traveling westbound on 10 Freeway in a 2017 Honda Accord. His vehicle soon developed a front left flat tire, causing him to pull over within the No.3 and 4 lanes on the westbound freeway, and alight to access the damage.

Just then, another vehicle, a 2017 Honda Civic, which was also westbound on the highway, suddenly slammed into the disabled car from behind before hitting the motorist who was at the time standing beside his Accord.

Paramedics accompanying the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office deputies pronounced the accident victim dead on the scene.

The CHP did not disclose any information about the Civic operator in the accident reports.

The deadly collision is still under investigation. The CHP urged anyone with helpful information regarding the crash to contact the Baldwin Park office of the California Highway Patrol.

Motorists are advised to always adhere to traffic regulations at all times to minimize the occurrence of road accidents.
