Felicitas Navarro Identified as Deceased Victim of Solana Beach DUI Crash

The San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office has released the identity of the woman who died on Tuesday, March 17, following an alleged DUI crash that left several victims injured at the Interstate 5 Freeway in the Solana Beach region of San Diego, California. The deceased’s identity was revealed as Felicia Navarro, a 57-year-old female from Wilmington.

Reporting the incident, the California Highway patrol disclosed that the tragic collision took place near Manchester Avenue, at about 2:33 am and involved at least two vehicles and seven victims.

According to the CHP, the deceased and two others were traveling north on I-5 Freeway in a black Toyota Scion when their vehicle drifted left and crashed into a median. The occupants of the Scion then parked in the emergency lane and tried to restore the car.

Meanwhile, another motorist driving a white Toyota Corolla parked behind the stranded commuters in a bid to help them. Just then, a third car, a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV, approached the emergency lane at high speed and struck the parked Scion.

The forceful collision caused the struck vehicle to rotate counterclockwise and roll over before bursting into flames.

The three occupants of the black Toyota, as well as the operator of the white vehicle, were affected by the crash, sustaining life-threatening injuries. The three females traveling in the Chevrolet were also severely injured.

Medics responding at the scene declared one of the victims, Felicitas Navarro, dead on their arrival, while the other six people involved were taken to a hospital.

Investigators determined that the driver of the Chevrolet Tahoe was under the influence of marijuana prior to the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
