Accident reports obtained from the Orange County authorities confirmed the death of a woman who was fatally struck by a passing vehicle in Garden Grove, California. The tragic incident took place on Wednesday morning, April 22.

The incident was reported at about 6:45 am near Valley View Street and Lampson Avenue. According to the police reports, the victim, a 62-year-old woman from Garden Grove, was crossing the road at the intersection when the vehicle ran her over.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the car involved, a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado driven by a 39-year-old man, was traveling through Valley View Street prior to the crash. Just as the motorist attempted a right turn onto Lampson Avenue to head east, it collided with the pedestrian who was at the time walking across the street.

Fire operatives from the Orange County Fire Authority arrived at the scene and found the 62-year-old sprawled on the roadway, unresponsive. Paramedics accompanying the responding officers pronounced the pedestrian dead at the scene. Her name was later released as Laura White.

Meanwhile, the operator of the vehicle, whose name was not disclosed, pulled over and waited at the scene until police arrived. He cooperated with authorities and was not arrested. Drugs and alcohol did not appear to have played a role in the fatal crash.

The accident reports did not disclose whether Laura White was using a crosswalk when she was hit.

The fatal incident, which resulted in White’s death, is being investigated by the police.
