A 30-year-old man driving eastward on the Foothill 210 Freeway in La Cañada, west of the Angeles Crest Highway, was killed Wednesday, April 1, 2015, when his vehicle smashed into a tree, authorities said.

Crash with Tree Fatal

According to the California Highway Patrol, the man who hit the tree was pronounced dead at the scene of the deadly motor vehicle accident. His identity was withheld, pending notification of his loved ones.

A One-Car Accident

This fatal La Cañada car collision with a tree is still under investigation by the CHP. No other vehicles appear to have been involved in the crash that killed this driver. Immediately after the horrible, one-car auto wreck, investigators found no obvious cause for the accident.

Further Investigation is Necessary

Authorities have not said whether an autopsy had revealed any evidence that the man was driving DUI or suffered a medical emergency that caused his vehicle to veer off the road and hit a tree. Only a thorough, independent investigation would reveal whether some mechanical malfunction of his automobile, some dangerous condition in the roadway, or avoidance of a second automobile that left the scene, could have caused this sudden, tragic death of a young person.
